Two filmmakers went to America to try and make a movie up as they went along. They had no script, no locations
and a budget of $10,000. This is their story and the movie that came out of their ordeal.
'Making a movie up as you go along is not as easy as it looks...'
13 States
'13 States' is a documentary following two independent filmmakers across America as they try to make a movie up as they go along.
What no one else involved in the movie knows is that they have no script, no locations and judging by the state of things, no idea
how to shoot a film.
With only two crew members, $10,000 and five weeks to complete the movie, they are gradually pushed closer and closer to breaking point and
eventually way past it.
Forget the glamour and glitz of the many so-called 'making of' featurettes
that come packaged with most studio releases, this is the brutal reality of
filmmaking as you have never seen it before.
'A Horse With No Name' is the film that came out of the events '13 States' documents. It is a 'Lady & The Tramp' style movie where a
down and out DJ, Vince Vinyl, meets Sofie, a high society girl, in a chance encounter in New York.
The two of them unexpectedly hit it off and decide to spend the day together. Despite an inordinate amount of bickering, they somehow
manage to get on.
When Sofie unexpectedly leaves to return to her home in Los Angeles, Vincent decides to pursue her, hitching a ride with a trucker - the very
appropriately named Randy - who's heading out that way.
Notwithstanding serious reservations about Randy's sanity and personality, Vincent realizes he has little choice if he wants to see Sofie again.
Thus begins an epic journey where the DJ discovers America, himself, the price of gas and true love - kind of.
